3.   IT update

  1. Nick discussed the present Webpage challenge: How to proceed with individual faculty members Webpage conversions to allow individuals to update their page contents. There are approximately 30 Web pages formats that need to be converted to the new directory. Links will be kept as they are to maintain Web page integrity.  Hahn suggestion on this matter is to send e-mail surveys to users and work with them to set up best date/time to convert/update individual Web pages.

4.   Faculty Web contents and links

  1. Dave Jordan asks whether new links can be appended to pre-existing Web pages

to redirect pages into the new directory while old Web pages are still in use and

      later be discontinued.

  1. Paul asked if contents will be moved into new page or let users define what contents to be moved or replaced and/or apply a link to access pre-existing contents.

  1. Dave Garza suggests existing contents should be kept and later made available in the new Web page for consistency.

5.   College Web contents and links

1.      Nick expressed his concern about Web page contents, and asks what contents will

be acceptable, how to approve of contents, what procedures should be

implemented, who will be responsible for issuance and updating approval procedures.

2.      Paul raised the concerned about inappropriate links and contents.

3.      Dave Jordan suggests that all legitimate college events should be approved.

4.      Paul is also concerned about the negative effects of an event outcome with negative connotations related to a college approved and advertised events.

5.      The general consensus about Web page contents approval is:  Who should be responsible for contents approvals? Suggestions: The chairman of the technology committee or the Webpage designer.

6.      Dave Jordan suggests that all these concerns should be taken into account when defining a policy to resolve any issues related to Web page contents.

6.   New Mission College Social network

1.       Dave Jordan introduced the concept of Social Network and made a presentation

about an existing Social Network Website by “Pyuple”. This Website could be used

2.       Dave suggests a practical use of this social network Website as a Course-a-pedia.

can be used as encyclopedia (term coined by Dave?). Dave will verify cost of

        service paid by other colleges.

3.       Dave suggests a Webpage resource access tool: A map shaped as a solar system

with links to all available resources shown on the page.  Dave Jordan will further

research Solar System Web page map design with Website designers at the

        University of La Verne.

1.      Faculty members will have professional development by June 30. For this purpose there is an increasing interest in promoting the use of technology by faculty members.
