Technology Committee Meeting Minutes 7-16-07

in attendance: Robert Payne, Kathy Dawson, Paul Mckenna, Adrian Gonzalez, Curtis Stage, and David Jordan

In our meeting yesterday in the Tech Comm we dicussed Objective 2 - the Tech Comm will assess technology training needs and to promote the implementation of accessible integration within curriculum.

The Tech Comm made the following recommendations:

1. that each syllabus include language about accesssible and assistive technology. Adiran will provide us with the language.

2. The IT Dept. in conjunction with DSPS will indentify the accesibility and assistvie technology needs of each campus computer lab, and student work stations, and provide a report to IT, the Tech-Comm and College Council regarding such needs.

3. Suggestions for Flex Day

a. The Flex Coordinator will review the Flex responsibility for each faculty member

b. Assistive Technology handouts will be provided by Adrian and DSPS

c. the contents of the syllabus will be reviewed - http://lamission.org/syllabus along with suggestoins on how to implement the use of technology in the campus classroom

d. a survey of Department Chairs will be taken to determine their Technology goal for the year and to assess their technology needs for use of technology in the classroom, and their technology training needs.

e. the library will present one of its library workshops - David Garza will do this as a break out session

f. the committee will prepare a list of possible technology training - including how to use outlook, how to access rosters, how to use moodle in the classroom - Curtis Stage will prepare the list of possible technology training.

Next session is on 7-30 at 1 pm in CSB 108, and the committee will spend more time working on plans for the Flex Day scheduled for 8-30-07
