Minutes of 10-23-06

1. Scheduling Policy for LRC 234/205

The Committee reivewed the print out of users for both LRC 205 and 234 for the last two semesters provided by Hanh Tran. The Committee discussed the issues and conflcts of calendaring of these two labs. The Committee decided that first priority goes to academic classes, including the Library. Hanh said that a new calendar software program is being tested now and should be introduced to the College in the next two months. It was dicussed how Sandy could send her Library Classes over to Nery for adding into the schedule. Sandy and Phoebe volunteered to write a "first rough draft" of the Scheduling Policy for our next meeting in two weeks by 11/06/06. Jim Acurso will check out any www resources from other universities on scheduling of labs which we might want to add to our policy. Debby will summarize the number and names of users of the labs from the print outs so we can see who has used the labs for the last two semesters.

2. Review and modify goals of the Committee - http://missionitac.pbwiki.com/revamp

David went over the new proposed governance chart - http://profj.us/governance/10-19-19.jpg

and that the Tech Committee will submit its proposed policies for review, and approval to the Educational Planning Committee, and for FYI to the Academic Senate. The Committee has too many goals, and too detailed, and the Committee should be more of an advisory and policy creating committee and not an oversight committee. The Committee will review the goals to modify them in our next meetings.

4. Discuss updating the Technology Master Plan and including Student Learning Outcomes -http://lamission.edu/technology/tmpfinal.htm - David said that the Tech Master Plan is now over 4 years old, and celebrated its 4th birthday on 10-09-06, and the Committee needs to update the Master Plan.

5. College Webpage - Adrian said that we should create a standing sub-committee to review the usage policies of the new webpage. David will email the existing policies and Adrian will put together recommnedations for new policies for the webpage use.

5. Report on Standard 3C - Technology Resources - Hanh Tran - the most current Standard # C is located at http://lamission.edu/accreditation.

6. IT and Tech Report - Update of activities - Hanh told the committee that LRC 234 now has all new computers, Pentium 4, with new flat screens, and that now completes the upgrade to new computers and flat screens for both LRC 234 and LRC 205. Excellent work Hanh to you and your staff.
