Minutes
1. Lab Scheduling - The Committee discussed the scheduling of Lab 234 and 205. Currently the labs are multipurpose, scheduled both for workshops and for classes. The Committee agreed that academic classes and the Library Worshops should be given priority. Maury Pearl is currently drafting a policy and this will be distributed amongst the committee members for review and discussion.
Hanh agreed to create pdf files of the list of users for the last two semesters so members of the committee can review the past use of the labs. At our next meeting we will review both the new policy from Maury and the list of users and review how to optimize the use of the labs. In two months, the college will be able to schedule events with an online portal calendaring system, and that can be integrated into the scheduling of 234/205 for any free, unscheduled lab times, first come-first serve.
2. LRC Academic Learning Lab - Phoebe discussed her recommendations to establish an Academic Learning Lab with one-half of the computers in the LRC Commons, and the remaining half will be for open use by students. The Committee commends Phoebe for instituting these changes in the LRC. The Committee recommended supporting an "open house" for faculty once the changes have been implemented.
3. Tech Committee Goals - The Committee discussed the revamp of the goals of the Technology Committee. For our next meeting, we will continue the discussion of updating our goals. see http://missionitac.pbwiki.com/revamp. We also need to review and update the Tech Master Plan, and we will add that to our next agenda
4. Election of a new chair - election of a new chair is scheduled for Nov. 6h
5. New Technology Home page - we have a new Technology Committee Home page location, and that is located at http://lamission.edu/technology . This was changed to make it easier to remember and access the home page for our Committee. Special thanks to Juan Chacon for setting this up for the Committee.
